Manish Sapkota, received his Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on deep learning and computer vision. He has nine years of industrial experience, including four years in building deep learning-based products in NLP, Search, and Computer vision at Uber ATG (Acquired by Aurora), Cresta, and early-stage startups. He delivered several large-scale applied science products using language models of the BERT and GPT family, distributed computing, ML infrastructure, and search technology. He optimized training and inference time and cost using knowledge distillation and quantization.
He completed his PhD from Univeristy of Florida's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE) and was supervised by Dr. Lin Yang. He is active reviewer for some of the leading journals such as JBHI and IEEE TIP having reviewed 20+ papers for these publications.
07/2021: Started job as Machine Learning Engineer at Cresta AI.
02/2021: Aurora acquires Uber ATG and started job as Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform at Aurora.
02/2020: Started job as Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform at Uber ATG self driving car unit.
